K9 Nose Work Classes

Intro to K9 Nose Work® Class

Can your dog find a crumb on the floor or a treat in your pocket? This is a class for you. K9 Nose Work® is a game and sport designed for dogs which provides an outlet for their natural hunting and scenting abilities. This class offers great mental and physical exercise, builds the dog’s confidence and helps nervous dogs feel more comfortable. Dogs learn to problem solve and work independently. All dogs go home happy and tired. Foundation class for scent work competition in NACSW, AKC, PSD, UKC and other venues. A no pressure, all fun class – relax and let your dog do the work.

 

Class Details​

  • Cost: $125

  • Class Size: 6 dogs, max 

  • Class Length: one hour class for 4 weeks

Continuing K9 Nose Work® Class

​

This class is designed for the continuing student who wants to encourage their dogs natural hunting/scenting abilities. We will focus on fun search games which allow your dog to hone his/her natural drive to locate the scent. We will also work on all four elements – interiors, exteriors, vehicles and containers – needed for competition.

Class Details​

  • Cost: $125

  • Class Size: 6 - 7 dogs

  • Class Length: 1 hour classes for 4 weeks

   ORT Prep Workshop

Dogs will practice finding odor in ORT (Odor Recognition Test) boxes. All NACSW odors , Birch, Anise and Clove will be used during the workshop.  ORT strategies will be discussed and what to expect on site at the ORT.

Intro to Odor K9 Nose Work® Workshop

Dogs will be introduced to birch odor. They will hunt for this odor paired with food or toy reward. Prerequisite Intro to K9 Nose Work and Continuing K9 Nose Work.

Advanced K9 Nose Work® Class

This class will advance handling skills and techniques for dogs searching for a target odor. Students will also learn to read their dogs body language.
