Congratulations on your new puppy! When a family acquires a new puppy, it is always an exciting time. Puppies are fun and are always happy to be with you and you always want what is best for your new member of the family. Just like an infant, puppies require constant supervision so they won’t get themselves into mischief. This can sometimes be hard on the other members of the family because as we all know our own routine must go on. With a busy life, sometimes owners do not have the time or skills it takes to teach their puppy proper housebreaking habits, socialization and training boundaries. These habits will make your puppy grow into a well-adjusted, happy dog.
We at Dog-Gone Fun understand limitations of a busy daily life. We also know how much fun owning a puppy can be. This is why we developed our Puppy Day School for puppies up to 1 year of age.
We have introduced a program for owners to drop their puppy off between 7-9 a.m. and pick them up between 4-6 p.m. for a predetermined number of days. We set up a formal housebreaking regime for young puppies and they are taught to eliminate outside. We give you, “the owner”, the educational material, and the encouragement that you need to continue the same routine at home. Any questions and concerns that you have are resolved on a daily basis.
The length of time it takes to fully housebreak a young puppy varies depending on the dog and owner compliance, so 2 short weeks does not guarantee that your puppy will be fully housebroken.
Training
Included in day school will be 1 private training session with your puppy and the trainer after every three days of school. Lessons will include sit, down, coming when called and walking on a leash. We will enforce polite greetings and appropriate human-dog interactions. As we teach these skills at school, you will receive handouts and 3 informative training sessions with your dog and the trainer.
Socialization
During the day, puppies will receive plenty of dog to dog interactions and play with other puppies as well as appropriate adult dogs. As with any preschool, structured naptimes and a regular feeding schedule will be provided. Crate training will also be provided.
